China's 'Rejuvenation' Bullet Trains Are the World's Fastest,China was once home to the world's fastest trains, but that position was temporarily derailed in 2011, after a crash between two bullet trains killed 40 people and injured nearly 200 more, leading officials to scale back maximum train speeds from 350 km/h (217 mph) to 300 km/h (186 mph). But the country is getting back on track, as the next generation of bullet trains — said to be the world's fastest — began transporting passengers Monday (Aug. 21) on the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway, according to the state-run Xinhua News Agency. Dubbed "Fuxing," which means "rejuvenation," the new high-speed trains are expected to expand service starting Sept. 21 to run between Beijing and Shanghai, traveling at speeds of up to 350 k...

The AG600 amphibious aircraft is to make its maiden flight over land in middle May and on water in the second half of 2017, said its developer, the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) on Wednesday. It is China’s first large special civil use airplane and also the world's largest amphibious aircraft, according to the AVIC. The company has already received 17 orders due to its multiple uses in fighting forest fires and marine rescue, also according to AVIC. Similar in size to the Boeing 737, the AG600 has a maximum take-off weight of 53.5 tonnes, and a body overlength of 36.9 meters as well as a wingspan of 38.8 meters. The first AG600 was completed in the southern city of Zhuhai in July 23, 2016, and shown to the public at the 2016 China Airshow. Ever since, preparation for its maiden flight has been going on. The aircraft has now passed the test of self-supply of electricity by its own engine, marking it is ready for its maiden flight on the whole. "Ever since the AG600 aircraft was rolled off the assembly line, we’ve connected it with electricity supply from the ground. We also finished the joint-test of key systems such as the control system, air defense system, hydraulic system. Furthermore, we’ve put the aircraft onto the runway and let its four engines run simultaneously. I should say a steady step has been made toward its ground taxi at low, middle and high speed," said Wang Zhenglong, deputy chief designer of the AG600 amphibious aircraft project. With four China-made turboprop engines, the AG600 has a "ship's body" with high mounted single-cantilever wing.(Xinhua) It can collect 12 tonnes of water in 20 seconds, and transport up to 370 tonnes of water on a single tank of fuel. (From Xinhua) According to plan, a full-aircraft resonance test, the last large test designed for the AG 600 before its maiden flight, is required to further prove the aircraft’s credibility. After it, the maiden flight over land in the middle of this May will be ensured with flight crew already preliminarily selected. "We are scheduled to start the resonance experiment in the end of this month for about 20 days. The date of the flight will be decided by the aircraft condition then and how the pilots are trained. It will be mainly concerned about the performance evaluation, conditions and safety of the aircraft," said Wang Shuzhe, chief engineer of the aircraft project. Wang Shuzhe added the maiden flight crew will have three members in the end, but eight are now training. There are two requirements for pilots: their experiences of operating large aircraft and a certain amount of flight hours. In addition, they are also required to practice on water flight and earn pilot licenses. With excellent maneuverability and a relatively wide range of search scope, the AG600 is very useful in marine resource exploitation, marine environmental monitoring, resource detection and transportation, according to experts. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20170329/8046600.shtml#!language=1 Subscribe us on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/CCTVPlus CCTV+ official website: http://www.cctvplus.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cctv-news-content Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NewsContent.CCTVPLUS Twitter: https://twitter.com/CCTV_Plus

The world's biggest multi-pylon cable-stayed bridge opened to traffic in eastern China on Friday (July 19). The Jiaxing-Shaoxing Sea-Crossing Bridge, which stretches 10 kilometres across the Hangzhou Bay in Zhejiang Province, took over four years to complete, designers said. The main 10-kilometre stretch across the Qiantang river estuary has six masts and cost over 6.4 billion yuan (1 billion U.S. dollars), designers said. The bridge, which is the second to be built over the Hangzhou Bay, will halve the driving time from the city of Shaoxing to the eastern financial hub of Shanghai, the state-run Xinhua news agency said. The head of construction for the main body of the bridge, Lin Daojin, could himself enjoy the drive across after his team successfully overcame significant challenges. The bridge is just one in a number of huge infrastructure projects the world's second largest economy has completed in recent years. In 2011, China completed the a 42.5 kilometre-long sea bridge in eastern Shandong province, which Guinness World records has recognised as the longest bridge over water on earth. Infrastructure spending leapt in China since 2009, when the government rolled out a 4 trillion yuan ($585 billion U.S. dollar), two-year stimulus package to counter the global economic downturn.

The Party has poured billions of dollars into expanding Xinhua's reach, with one senior official urging Xinhua to become a "world-class" media. But experts say it would be hard for Xinhua to reach that goal while it remains the so-called "throat and tongue" of the communist party. The Chinese regime's top propaganda official, Li Changchun, praised Xinhua News Agency on its 80th anniversary at a ceremony in Beijing on Monday. Li called on the state-run media to continue serving the Chinese Communist Party and shape public opinion. Li also urged Xinhua to become a "world-class" media, and increase its global influence. The Chinese Communist Party established Xinhua on November 7, 1931 as its mouthpiece. Freelance reporter Zan Aizhong says the news agency will continue to play that role, given Li Changchun's remarks on Monday. [Zan Aizong, Freelance Reporter]: "All of Xinhua's reporting is guided by Party seniors. It reports on matters the Party allows it to report. There's always a yardstick that Xinhua cannot report outside of. It has to follow orders, and is an 'obedient' media. Li Changchun is asking Xinhua to remain obedient, and even more so in the future." In an effort to exert its soft power, the Chinese regime has invested billions of dollars to expand its media. Xinhua is now a prominent feature in New York's Times Square. It also stated a 24-hour news station in July last year. But many commentators like media expert Professor Jiao Guobiao doubt Xinhua's prospects. [Professor Jiao Guobiao, Media Expert]: "As a media outlet, if it cannot operate with the values inherent of a media, it will not be successful, or any success it has will not be for long. If there is no pursuit for true and unbiased reporting, and the press is not guided by freedom and universal values, its goals of success will never be achieved." Xinhua currently has 162 overseas branches, and looks to increase to 200 by 2020. The Chinese regime's push for state-media expansion has not translated to greater press freedom in the country though. Advocacy Group Reporters Without Borders ranks the regime near the bottom of its 2010 Press Freedom Index.

The new terminal, which is under construction, is 102m (305ft) under the Badaling Great Wall in Beijing. It will occupy 36,000 square meters (387,500 square feet). The tunnel and the station are part of a railway line being built to facilitate the 2022 Winter Olympics.

21 to run between Beijing and Shanghai, traveling at speeds of up to 350 km/h (217 mph). But the trains are capable of going even faster. With maximum speeds of 400 km/h (249 mph), they are the fastest trains in the world, Xinhua News Agency reported. [Hyperloop, Jetpacks & More: 9 Futuristic Transit Ideas] First unveiled in June, the Fuxing bullet trains were tested on July 27 at their maximum speed. They will operate seven round-trips daily between Beijing and Shanghai, and are expected to reduce travel time from 5 hours (at the current speed of 300 km/h) to 4 hours and 30 minutes, according to the Xinhua News Agency. To put the speed of the Fuxing trains into perspective, the maximum speed of Amtrak intercity high-speed trains in the U.S. is 150 mph (241 km/h), and only half of the trains run at speeds of 100 mph (161 km/h) or more, according to the railroad's website. Other types of transportation systems may promise ultra-high-speed travel, but they still have a long way to go before they're passenger-ready. In Japan, testing is currently underway for trains capable of traveling at up to 500 km/h (310 mph) using magnetic levitation — so-called "maglev" technology — but they won't be operational until 2027. And billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk's proposed "Hyperloop," a tube track that could carry people in air-cushioned pods at speeds of up to 760 mph (1,220 km/h), is still preparing for a preliminary testing stage, which will be conducted at 200 mph (322 km/h). The fuel for Luo Jun’s Xinhua News Agency editorials is her rage at injustice in all its forms – from official corruption in China to Western double standards. Luo, who manages Xinhua’s social media accounts after two years in London as a political correspondent for the agency, says she has seen official government cars parked outside of entertainment facilities in broad daylight and is aware of cases where money has bought power. For her, the person who embodies the true values of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is her grandfather, a CPC member and toy company manager who cared for others but was always strict with himself.
